Adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. (Titus 2:10)
Let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ. (Phil. 1:27) Abstain from all appearance of evil. (1 Thes. 5:22) If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters. (1 Pet. 4:14, 15) Be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world. (Phil. 2:15) Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Matt. 5:16) Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart; so shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. (Prov. 3:3, 4) Brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Phil. 4:8)
As we look around today’s world there are so many things being accepted that would have been mentioned only in secret and darkness. The clothing we wear is sometimes difficult to be called clothing. Some outer wear looks more like what should be under wear. Some formal attire shows so much that you would think it should retire. Public conversations have so much profanity in them they leave you wondering if something was being said or was someone trying to be seen. The world truly has come out of the closet. Homosexuality has always been and always will be an abomination to God but men say, “God is just old fashioned and has not come into the twenty first century.” But the worst part of it all is trying to tell some Christians from the world. So many people want to be like “Mike,” even Christians. “Mike” who, Jackson, Douglas, Phelps, Kors, McDonald, Moore, Myers or Jordan? A Christians’ lifestyle should stick out like a black cow among a herd of sheep. When evil is present Christians should be absent, or at least trying to point out the evil. The clothing of a Christian should be modest. By modest I mean it covers what clothes should cover (your body) and shows what should be shown (your face). When a Christian opens their mouth good things should come out, blessing not cursing. The Christian words should be healing to others not wounding. The world has gone back to the days of Noah where “every one is doing what is right in their eyes.” The world has become merciless, crooked, perverse and without conscience. But oh Christian I say to you be merciful as God is merciful, be fair as God is longsuffering, be truthful as God that cannot lie and think on good things as God who thought of man’s salvation. Christian, do not clothe yourself as the world does, but wear “Godly Clothing.”
